Tokiya: My name is Ichinose Tokiya. Please guide me along as well.
Otoya: It’s a pleasure to have this interview! I’m Ittoki Otoya. It’s not easy for Tokiya to get an interview, so we’ll answer looooots of your questions!
Tokiya: Otoya…It’s fine for you not to say anything useless.
Otoya: Eh~? Why is it so? It’s an interview so you’re supposed to talk a lot! Our fans will also be happy if we do that, you know?
—-It’s been a year since you guys entered Shining Agency. You have also been moving towards the ‘Master Course’(?) that was your goal since your debut. Are there a lot of times when just the both of you are involved in any acts together recently?
Otoya: Un! Our sempais in the Master Course have taught us about various things, but I want to live in a room together with Tokiya and Rei-chan!
Tokiya: Call him ‘Kotobuki Reiji-san’ in public. He’s our sempai after all.
Otoya: That’s right!! But even though I said I want us to live together, we’ll spend less time together in there as compared to in school. We both have different work schedules, so our time is pretty disorganised now.
Tokiya: I’ll help out on this one…Just Otoya alone is noisy enough, so it makes it difficult for Kotobuki-san to rehearse in peace.
Otoya: I’m just happy to get one more member in our family! But then, it would be good if the 3 of us can get together for a performance~When that time comes, I’ll be more than happy to arrange it!
Tokiya: As compared to the merits of it, there are far more demerits.
Otoya: Man~Tokiya’s getting embarrassed again! You’re also happy when talking to Rei-chan, aren’t you? (laughs)
Tokiya: …Well, it would be good if that happens once or twice.
—-Go back to the you one year before, do you feel that you have matured?
Tokiya: One year before, when I was just an undergraduate at Saotome Academy, I really felt that everything was just beginning. I belonged to an agency, and had to juggle my job at the same time. Continuing that way was really tiring. I was persevering on for the sake of a big chance, and I have become a better person who has not forgotten those days. That is where I think I have matured.
Otoya: Tokiya has really tried his best! I’m the one who saw him working hard the best, so” I won’t lose to him!” That was the kind of motivation he gave him. When I was still an undergraduate, there were a lot of things I couldn’t see myself, but now it’s different. It was all thanks to my rivals and the hard work Sempai put in his job. That was the part where I felt “I’ve matured~”
—-What were your impressions of each other when you first met each other?
Otoya: The very very first time we met was at an event when we got to experience what school was like before we actually entered it. My impression was…un, I thought we wouldn’t ever see eye to eye(awkward laugh) Could it be that Tokiya, you never noticed me then?
Tokiya: …If you thought that way, then take note of it.
Otoya: Then, the first time we talked was when we moved to the hostel in the school. “I need to stay firm~” was my feeling then, but my intuition was wrong then. He even cleaned the room for me~
Tokiya: It’s not that I wanted to do that! I just can’t stand seeing the room in a mess…really(softly) That’s why you felt that we can’t see eye to eye since the first time we met…
Otoya: Nn? What’s wrong, Tokiya? More importantly, what was your impression of me?
Tokiya: A hopelessly cheerful and an idiot who cannot read the atmosphere…yes, that’s right.
Otoya: Are you praising me?
Tokiya: Why would you think I was praising you? I’m just say my impression of you in a straightforward manner.
—-Tell us about ‘The part that you like the most about him’ and ‘The part where you wish he would change’.
Tokiya: ‘Part that I like most’ is, is it a must to answer this part? There are lots of parts that I wish he would change…
Otoya: To~ki~ya, you’re so mean!! That’s not what you say normally!
Tokiya: That was a joke.
Otoya: Man~, you made me so nervous just now (laughs). The part I like most about Tokiya is definitely that he is willing to teach me lots of things~
The part I want him to change is him being too strict on himself. I get worried when I see him like that. Isn’t it good to give yourself a break once in a while?
Tokiya: It’s alright for people like you…That’s right, I’ll take notice not to overwork myself in the future. The good part about you(Otoya) is that you’re not cautious of people, and you treat everyone sincerely. You think that everyone in the world in kind, but that kind of thinking is quite dangerous.
—-The both of you were roommates when you were still in Saotome Academy, so are there any moments that left a really deep impression?
Otoya: We always had lots of fun, and although there were lots of things I wanted to talk about…Tokiya always sleeps early, so I always felt “What should I do now~? “ There’s another time, when I secretly…
Tokiya: Otoya!!!
Otoya: Eh, what’s wrong? Was it that I shouldn’t have talked about it!?
Tokiya: (serious tone) Talk about other times instead.
Otoya: U…n…Then, how about this? Tokiya always uses his cell phone before a meal, why is that so~? Then, when I peeked from behind his back once, I saw that he was calculating something, and then…
Tokiya: O-TO-YA!!! …can you please just keep quiet?
Otoya: …Tokiya, you look scary (sweats)
Tokiya: What are you talking about, Otoya? Well, overall, everyday was full of happy memories…that’s it. (big smile)
—-What does a normal idol usually has in mind? Please tell us more on that.
Tokiya: You have to be conscious that everyone is taking notice of you now. You have to be careful in your performance of course, and even your daily life. An idol also provides dreams to people. Because people see you 360° because of your job now, so you can’t really relax much now.
Otoya: That sounds just like Tokiya (laughs) I’m the opposite of him though. I always want to stay natural! I want people to look at me as I am now. Even though I always give my best in whatever I do, of course some of the imperfect parts can probably be seen. But, I want to point out my own mistakes at that time. Is this the ‘me’ that my fans want? I think I want to improve myself for my whole life.
—-How do you spend your days off?
Otoya: When we were still in the academy, I always play soccer with Syo. Now that we are both busy with our debuts, we don’t get much time together, but if we can, I want to play soccer again. But I can’t play soccer alone, so it’s hard to fulfil that wish. I’ll just do running so I get to move my body around, or play my favourite guitar.
Tokiya: You can play your guitar even when we’re not off.
Otoya: That’s true (laughs) And recently, I got addicted to ‘Kenka no Ouji-Sama’ so I try to find time to watch the whole DVD.
Tokiya: I relax myself whenever I’m off. Of course I’ll still attend lessons. Rest is as important as our jobs. I’ll also soak in the shower once in a while to relax, and read an interesting book while soaking. I tend to spend most of the time in my room.
Otoya: Tokiya, you spend a long time in the shower. Won’t you faint?
Tokiya: It’s fine if the bath water is lukewarm. It’ll be bad if it was hot water though.
—-What will you do on your first date? Tell us about your date plan.
Tokiya: I’m not very good at answering questions like this…
Otoya: Then, me first! An outdoor date is definitely the best. Just enjoying the pretty scenery with my favourite person makes me happy! Then, it would be best if we ate her handmade bentou!! I’m already in love with the idea. Doesn’t the thought of her making the bentou for your sake just makes you happy? And then, we’ll hold hands and walk in the forest where there’s no one except us…
Tokiya: You look like you’re having fun. You can talk so much, even when you never experienced it before. I respect you, for your imagination.
Otoya: Doesn’t Tokiya have any imagination at all?
Tokiya: …nn, well, it’s not that I have none…I’ll go along with her wishes, I can’t decide things like that. My only wish is that we go to somewhere where there’ll be no crowds, because I’m no good in crowds, a quiet place would be good. After that, we’ll talk about things.
—-What is the thing that makes you feel the happiest?
Otoya: When I’m singing!!
Tokiya: It is when I’m singing.
(both of them answered at the same time)
Otoya: Waa! We answered together!? We really are similar
Tokiya: …! That is an obvious answer because I’m an idol. I don’t have any other answers except that. It can’t be helped that we had the same answer.
Otoya: That’s true. For me, it’s probably when people who support me smile? That’s why I’m very happy at lives, because I get to see everyone’s expressions. I feel happy when I sing, and when people who hear me sing are happy, I feel happy too.
Tokiya: For me, it’s when I expect a lot from myself for my job. Singing is the best way to let out my feelings, another reason is because of my fans’ expectations. It’s because of them that I give my best in singing.
Otoya: In the end, aren’t our answers still similar!?
